To develop well rounded, independent, and successful young adults acting as role models in their communities by providing educational and social support to school going children and young adults from disadvantaged areas in Bitou, South Africa.
Born in Africa provides academic, social and life skill programs. The academic program focuses on education and tertiary studies. The social program is driven by an individual mentorship program and during the life skill programs the attention is focussed on enriching our learners by exposing them to life outside their rather limited daily routine.

BIA turned 10 years old this year!
Born in Africa celebrated our 10-year anniversary this year. From small beginnings, when Isabelle De Smul arrived in Plettenberg Bay as a volunteer, we have grown from strength to strength. The challenge of facing social and educational needs in the Bitou area continues as we aim to address the crisis and make a difference together.
To celebrate our existence and success so far, we held a street parade, followed by an afternoon show and a reception for our honoured guests. We felt the need to give everyone involved the opportunity to show their pride in being part of Born in Africa and to honour so many for their involvement and support.
