Educational projects
Born in Africa organises and runs numerous educational projects in five different schools. These projects take place throughout the year, and are geared towards underprivileged children. The projects vary in nature, but are generally aimed at developing and improving necessary skills, as well as providing additional logistic support to schools and organisations. The projects are organised with the intent of meeting the ever changing needs of the marginalised communities with whom we work.
BIA is currently setting up homework centres where children will be assisted with their school work and taught extra skills in a positive environment.
Each year we organise about nine camps for the children, whom in many instances experience this as their only outing for the year. We focus on having lots of fun, with an underlying learning theme.
Another one our projects is the reading programme aimed at helping children who are struggling to read. They are placed in small groups and individual attention is given to those who are having a particularly hard time.
The creativity of our children is encouraged through art and craft classes, where they are encouraged to release their creative skills in fun, artistic ways.
Computer literacy is an essential part of the modern world, and BIA helps children to develop their skills in becoming competent in basic computer usage.
Knowing how to swim can save your life! Our BIA children are learning to swim and are having lots of fun at the same time.
