Education in South-Africa
South Africa is a land of extremes- and although one of the most developed countries in Africa, it still struggles to close the socio-economic gap between its people. More than fifteen years after the abolition of apartheid, the country still suffers: one of the world’s largest populations living with HIV/AIDS, a high crime rate, and soaring unemployment are some of the challenges South Africa faces today. Our large-scale plan is to reintegrate entire sectors of the marginalised population back into a stable economically viable society.
Through education and training support, we aim to give our BIA children the tools, which will ensure their active participation in the labour market, thereby giving them the means to escape their current situation, and create a new working middle class.
In reality, however, the schools in these disadvantaged areas have insufficient resources to offer quality education, resulting in many township students being at a huge disadvantage educationally and socio-economically. Social problems are rife and many children do not complete their schooling, thereby continuing the devastating cycle of poverty and unemployment.
Born in Africa aims to break this trend by ensuring that BIA children get assistance socially and scholastically to allow them to reach their full potential.
