31 August 2012 - Farewell but not goodbye

When we were children and our parents took away a toy of ours as we had to go to school or another activity, we wept like there was no tomorrow. Well, saying goodbye to Marjan Meganck and Wouter Deprez and their children was a similar experience. Having them part of the BIA team was an absolute blessing and one that will not be forgotten.

The idea to come to SA, Plettenberg Bay was Marjan’s one, but Wouter and the kids happily trotted along for the adventure. Their plan was to take a year to give back to the communities of Plettenberg Bay, and wow, this they most certainly did.

Wouter was instrumental in sharing his knowledge of the entertainment world with the young folk of the community. He played an integral role in the making of “Candy’s story” a short movie clip depicting a BIA girl’s journey to success. We were also very fortunate to feature in his radio program series “Radio Plettenberg” with one of our students – Mandy Mngomezulu-starring in an episode.

Marjan’s exceptional organisational skills assisted the BIA team in re-thinking and drafting our strategic planning the BIA program. Together with her, we were able to align our focus and secure a sustainable future plan for our organisation. She was always on standby in an advisory capacity and for this we will always be grateful.

As part of their farewell, Isabelle organised a surprise fun evening at the BIA headquarters where final goodbyes were said. We wish them all the best for their future plans and would like to reassure them that they are always welcome at BIA and will always remain a part of the BIA family
