6 November 2012 - Gr 9-10 camp
A total of 54 BIA boys and girls spent an unforgettable weekend and this incredible venue situated in Harkerville, just outside Plettenberg Bay and they had heaps of fun! Wesley Andrew, BIA educational coordinator and his expert team of volunteers ensured that not a moment was spent sitting still.
The camp was opened by inspirational guest speaker Hilton Pyper who offered the children very valued advice on the importance of family, personal values and goals. This pretty much set the tone for the weekend’s theme of activities. The various groups spent much time exploring the importance of teamwork with amusing games and they learned the significance of discipline and the principals of caring.
As we find career guidance an important aspect of our program already at Gr 9 & 10 level, we put together a power point presentation with a wide spectrum of career options for them. This is very valuable as it plants a seed of hope and they can focus on improving school results and prepare for very important decisions to be made.
The beautiful natural surroundings were explored when the group undertook both a day and a night hike. They also got to spend lots of time just being kids and having fun in the swimming pool and both evenings they put up incredible talent shows.
Well done to all the learners who participated hailing from Wittedrift, Greenvalley, Crags, Kranshoek and Harkerville.
