Furthering our children’s education is our main focus. During their school career we observe them closely with regards to the standard of their work, school attendance, commitment, general behavior and so forth. We also offer support to our local schools by setting up educational programs for the various classes where it is most needed. Our volunteers work in these schools daily with reading, computers, music, art and much more. The value they add to the education of the children is immeasurable.
We aim to expand our program and provide more young people in the Bitou community with the opportunity to gain valuable skills. In South Africa, vocational training is essential, as it equips learners with specialized skills that meet the needs of various industries, ultimately helping to create a more skilled and versatile workforce.
At present, Born in Africa supports 45 students at universities and colleges. Each year, we encounter learners who do not thrive in the traditional academic system which is why since 2023, we are more inclined towards hands-on, practical learning and we see more students going into vocational fields too.
