Obuhle Madolo
Tertiary Institution: University of Cape Town (UCT)
Field of Study: Bachelor of Social Science
We remember fondly how our Obuhle Madolo used to be the smallest learner during our afternoon group sessions and that was because she was the youngest too! When she joined the Born in Africa program, she was a learner at Wittedrift High Primary. Because of her outstanding academic record, she was a Born in Africa Wittedrift High bursary recipient in Gr 8. This bursary meant that Obuhle could focus on academics, sport, and culture. She excelled at sport during her high school career and was a very valuable netball team player, also during athletics at school, she was one of the main cheerleaders. During her final year at school, Obuhle served her school as a prefect, and she was also nominated as a hostel prefect. During high school her diverse talents also saw her on stage during two productions the school presented which was “Pirates of Penzance” as well as a “Oklahoma”. Now, Obuhle has claimed a Born in Africa Tertiary Bursary, and she commenced her studies at the University of the Western Campe where she is studying towards a Batchelor of Social Sciences degree. She is very much interested in moving over to Law in her second year. We are proud of our Obuhle, how far she has come and the solid foundation she has very successfully created thus far.
