Dezire Julie
Dezire is one of two siblings in the Born in Africa program. She joined Born in Africa when she was in Kranshoek Primary in Grade 3, which has given her the advantage of completing so many of the programs and activities we offered over the years. Her excellent academic results throughout primary school, provided her with the BIA study bursary to attend Wittedrift High school for her secondary education. This certainly benefited her when she had to start her tertiary course online from home in 2021, because of COVID. A little unusual for a first-year student who studies through Born in Africa. 2022 brought a bit of relief, as Dezire could finally attend Nelson Mandela University's campus in Port Elizabeth and experience the real student life! Dezire attended Wittedrift High and was also awarded her high school bursary through our organisation to do so because of her academic excellence. At the end of 2024 all her hard work paid off, when she graduated as a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology. We believe that Dez is going to become an excellent Psychologist as she has incredible listening skills and is also a brilliant empath. We are thrilled to have supported her on this journey and wish her nothing but the best!
