Candy Gadebe joined Born in Africa when she was 14 years old whilst attending Harkerville Primary. Candy continued to complete her schooling at Wittedrift High and then graduated at Tsiba Eden Campus with a Higher Certificate in Business Administration. She was awarded a full tertiary scholarship through Tsiba University in Cape Town and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelors in Business Administration. During her six months practical training at Alan Grey finance house she impressed them hugely and was offered a permanent position where she works today. Click here to read the beautiful thank you letter she wrote when she left Born in Africa.

Years later in 2024, Candy was still working for Allan Gray and nominated Born in Africa for the firm's philanthropy project. After a site visit and when it was decided that BIA would receive a big donation, Candy wrote the following in her mail to Isabelle: "I’ll forever be grateful for what you did for me , it changed my life".
